I am not sure if having a good memory is nice for us or not. I read this in an old book, that the secret of happiness is to have a bad memory. This allows us to not pile on things in life and move ahead with change. This ensures that we do not have any kind of grudges against those who did bad to us at one time, as we cannot recollect much. It ensures that change comes in our life as time passes by. But those who have good memory, remember each and every moment all their life and it gets tough to walk away from the reality soon.
