Insulin uses glucose to make glycogen while the pyruvate converts into acetylcoA or oxaloacetate.

With Glucagon

Glucose +

Glycogen -

Pyruvate –

The glucagon hormone utilizes glycogen to make glucose. It also utilizes pyruvate indirectly to make alanine.

With Epinephrine

Glucose +

Glycogen -

Pyruvate 0

The epinephrine in flight or fight situation, makes extra glucose from glycogen. However, here pyruvate does not change because it is inactive.

With Cortisol

Glucose+

Glycogen -

Pyruvate 0

Again, cortisol causes glycogenolysis and gluconeogenesis and hence increases glucose concentration. However, there is no pyruvate change occur.
