What physical and behavioral increases in complexity occur in the vertebrates in order for them to compete more greatly?
High intelligence and complex brain development has been seen to evolve several to many times within the animal kingdom, among vertebrates in teleosts (e.g. cichlids), corvid and psittacid birds, and cetaceans, elephants and primates. High levels of intelligence are bound to multimodal centres like the mushroom bodies in insects, the vertical lobe in octopodids, the pallium in birds and the cerebral cortex in primates. It should be noted that all of them have highly ordered associative neuronal networks. This development of intelligence and complex brain helps the vertebrates to compete more greatly.

What is the “addiction paradox?” Describe several factors (physical, psychological, behavioral, etc.) that might account for the paradox of continued substance use despite problems.
1914 Entropy increases with increasing molecular complexity. a) What might you expect for the value of S? for butane, C4H10? (Express your answer to four significant figures and include the appropriate units.)
2.What is the order of complexity of the insert function in the worst case? You are required to provide a complexity function, and a proof that your complexity function belongs to a particular complexity class. In your complexity function you may specify the number of comparisons performed, as a function of input size. def insert(element, sorted): if len(sorted) == 0: return [element] else: if sorted[0] >= element: new_copy = sorted[:] new_copy.insert(0, element) return new_copy else: return [sorted[0]] + insert(element, sorted[1:])
