According to the Avogadro’s hypothesis  equal volumes of all gases at the same temperature and pressure contain the equal number of gas particles.

Step 1: Write the balanced chemical equation

2 SO2(g) + O2(g) ----> 2 SO3(g)

Step 2: Calculation of volume of O2 required

2 SO2(g) + O2(g) ----> 2 SO3(g)

From the balanced equation we can see that mole ration of SO2 is double as that of O2 which means

According to the reaction:
2 L of SO2 requires 1 L of O2

So, 7 L of SO2 will requires = ( 1 L of O2 / 2 L mol of SO2 ) ×  7 L of SO2  = 3.5  L of O2

Hence, the volume of O2 is required = 3.5 L
