I work for a consumer goods company as Operations area leader. The associates incentive is linked to the productivity (output per month) and it is the additional pay apart from salary. This is the motivator for workers to work relentlessly. Their Team leader is the supervisor and has the responsibility to plan for maintenance to ensure that machine condition is intact. However, the Team leader was not carrying out the activity properly due to which line condition was poor. It was impacting the productivity and the incentive pay out to workers. As a result, followers gave feedback to management on the issue. The management collected the data and carried out counseling with Team leader. Post this, Team leader became more active and productivity was improved. So, in this case, follower affected the leader and also organizational outcome.
