A totem is an animal or an object that is believed and stated to be of religious significance and used by an emblem in the community or the society. The major uses of totems includes protection against taboos such as incest. Secondly, it reminds the tribe or clan regarding their lineage or ancestory which provides them a sense of identity. Thirdly, they represent stories or imooetimp events in it's poles.
