Describe a clinical or research scenario that requires the use of a microscope. What microscope is the best choice for the scenario and why? What would be your second choice? For example: E.coli, why we need to use microscope to see the E.coli.

Microscope plays an indispensable role in viewing the specimes which are very small in size and cannot be identified by our naked eye.

Clinical or Research scenario use of microscope

  • It helps to study the structure of proteins
  • Microscope determine the shape and size of cells and intracellular structues
  • helps in examination of concentration of ions.
  • helps in diagnosis of blood, urine etc

There are five types of Microscopes( Stereo Microscope, Compound Microscope, Inverted, Metallurgical, Polarizing)

but for clinical Compound microscope and Inverted microscopes are prefered , they have magnification power of 40x-400x where we can view majority of microorganisms.

E coli is a rob shaped bacteria and its size is about 1 to 2 micrometers long which cannot be seen through our naked eye, so for better Viewing and studying microscope is used
