Give two examples of fungi that are important economically, ecologically, and as food for humans.
A fungus or fungi is a kind of living organism which is eukaryotic having cell wall containing Chitin.
Fungi are useful to humans because of their economic value.
Example - YEAST
It is a single celled eukaryotic microorganism which is a form of a fungi.
Yeast helps in fermentation of sugars, therefore it is used bread production, beer fermentation, baking foods.
Yeast converts the fermentable sugars into carbon dioxide thereby expanding the dough and making it rise. This makes the baking products soft and spongy. When the dough is baked, the east dies on the air pockets set giving it spongy texture. The yeast used in fermentation is saccharomyces cerevisiae which is also used in alcohol fermentation.
Example- MUSHROOM or TOADSTOOL
It is a fleshy, spore bearing fruiting body which is a form of a fungus which is grown on soil.
All mushrooms are not a edible and can be poisonous to humans.
Mushrooms are used extensively in cooking because it contains maximum amount of water and also contains proteins which has nutritional value.
Edible mushrooms can be harvested and cultivated in any small areas.
Give two examples of fungi that are important economically, ecologically, and as food for humans.
59. Which phylum of fungi contains organisms that form lichens? What is a lichen? Why are lichens considered ‘environmental indicator organisms’? (5) 60. Which phylum of fungi contains the species that produces penicillin? We use penicillin as an antibiotic, but why would a fungus produce penicillin? (4) 61. List and describe two economically important functions of fungi and two ecologically important functions of fungi. (4) 62. The diploid (2n) portion of an animal’s life cycle is the most prevalent. a....
Both humans and fungi are eukaryotic. Looking at the structures found in human and fungal cells, propose one possible cellular target of antibiotics that would impact fungal cells but not human cells. Provide two examples of beneficial fungi and two examples of beneficial bacteria. Include binomial names and how we benefit from these organisms.

State the names of two microbial agents of foodborne disease that occur among food animals. Give examples of how these agents may be transmitted by foods and suggest methods for prevention of their occurrence among animals used for food.
What is a fixed asset and why are these assets important in business? Give specific examples of how fixed assets are used?
Why is it important to know the chemical composition associated with microstructural features? Give three examples.
