How could Horney's theory be used in society today in reference to the major adjustment techniques?
Karen Horney brings out three major neurotic needs that would help individuals adjust with the society. Ten individual needs are basically grouped into three groups such as moving with people, moving away from people and moving against people. Horney suggests that fully developed people would use all the three depending on the situations. People who move with people get enough support and others who move against and move away from people would lose others interests thus wouldn’t be able to adjust well in the society. This would mean that they wouldn’t adjust with people, events, norms and laws.
