What is the difference between organizational and activational effects of hormones? Give an example of each and describe data that would demonstrate whether a hormone has organizational effects or activational effects. You can base your answer on a real or imagined hormone.

Organizational effect of the hormones causes the permanent effect on the structure and function of the body and these usually occur during development period in an organism.

Activational effect of hormones causes the the immediate temporary effects on the body and the effect lasts as long as the hormone is present in the body. This can occur anytime during the lifetime of an organism.

Example of organizational hormone is sexual development in organisms that determine the sex of an individual and the development of organs accordingly. The hormones includes testosterone in males and LH, FSH etc in females.

Example of activational hormone is menstrual cycle in females, as long as long as the hormones orestrogen, progesterone, LH and FSH are present the cycle happens and then it stops.
