In 200-250 words describe and define managed care. Most health care in the U.S. is some form of managed care. What do you think is the main focus of managed care and why? Give at least two examples of managed care.

Managed care :-

Managed care is a kind of service that provides health insurance to the members so to reduce the cost of the bill. It has mainly tie ups with various healthcare organization, hospitals, physicians etc. so that they can serve the patients at a reduced cost. It provides the organization the ability to focus on the quality of care with reduced cost.

Focus :-

It can be said that the main focus of managed care is to streamline the healthcare administration and aim to lessen the cost of the healthcare services. It is provided to the United States to cover Medical insurance.

Reason :-

The managed care aims this because healthcare organizations can be able to provide less expensive treatment to the patients.

The managed care makes contract with the organizations so they can provide quality of service to the patients with low cost. This type of managed care includes Health maintenance organization or HMO and Preferred provider organization or PPO which can be considered as the examples of managed care.

Concerns :-

Although, managed care makes the work easier for the healthcare organizations as they can be able to provide services at a reduced cost but it can be said that the quality of care is not upto the level of satisfaction of the patients. Some may also argue that the quality has suffered at some extent in the healthcare system such as reduced in the quality of care as well as lower the loyalty of the healthcare staffs etc.
