Ans. (A) CD spectroscopy is useful for characterizing the nucleic acid structures because CD spectroscopy cannot provide high-resolution structural information, and it is exquisitely sensitive to nucleic acid secondary structure, and it is particularly well-suited for monitoring changes in structures resulting from folding, binding and environmental perturbations.

(B) Nucleic acids are perfectly applicable for CD analysis because the secondary structure will impart a distinct CD to its respective molecules. Therefore, the alpha helix of proteins and the double helix nucleic acids have CD spectral signatures representatives of their structure.

(C) The other instrumental method for characterizing the structure of DNA and RNA is Mass spectrometry, it is a powerful analytical technique used to quantify known materials. This technique is based on the ionization energy on the molecule. Oligonucleotide (DNA or RNA), are linear polymers of nucleotides. These are composed of nitrogenous bases, ribose sugar and a phosphate group.
