Medical school should prepare and teach the physician to become scientist so that the physicians know what is right and wrong, they are able to actively participate in new discoveries and understand various techniques used in medical studies and science. They should be prepared to becoming scientist as it helps in better understanding of transplantation, genetic engineering, gene therapy and all the important medical terms.

Three Bioethics principles with case evidence of why medical school must prepare the physician to become scientist are:-

a)      Non-maleficence – This is one of the first medical bioethics principle and reason why physicians must be trained to becoming scientist. This way the physicians have a better understanding of things and make sure they do not harm the patient. One way or the other, all treatment involve some sort of harm but with better understanding the harm can be minimized and things can be molded for imparting more benefits.

b)      Beneficence – As per this a medical person must always take positive step to help the patient. Shaping a physician into becoming a scientist will help them to do the right thing medically and help the patient. They will have a better understanding of how to balance the treatment with minimum risk and cost.

c)       Autonomy – This is the biggest bioethical factor and this gives one the right to make their own decision and respect the decision of the autonomous person. The physician when trained into becoming a scientist will have a firm decision because of better understanding of thing and hence can help the patients better.
