Genetic discrimination occurs when people are treated with differently by their employer or insurance company because of they have mutation in gene, that causes or increase risk of inherited diseases. It involves inappropriate use of genetic information in respect to health insurance and employment. It also protects a persons family medical history including genetic information of family members. for example- An employer can not legally ask an employee Huntington's disease runs in his family.
b. A federal law called Genetic Information Discrimination Act (GINA) is designed to protect people from this from of discrimination. It also prohibit genetic discrimination in health insurance and genetic discrimination in employment. Genetic discrimination is the misuse of genetic information.
