Elements are made up of only one kind of atoms. Since there are some atoms which don't exist in combined form (like He, Ne) are atomic element. Those atoms which exist in combination with other atom of itself (like O2, N2) are molecular elements.
Compounds are substance which are made up of more than one type of atoms (like H2O, CO2). Since, compounds always consist more than one atom, they can't be atomic compound but they are molecular compounds.

14. The ionization energies of the elements of atomic numbers 20 through 29 are very nearly equal. Why should this be so when considerable variations exist in the ionization energies of other consecutive sequences of elements?
For each of the following examples, (a) Draw a molecular orbital diagram. Include both the atomic orbitals that combine and the molecular orbitals that are formed. Clearly show the relative energies of all orbitals. Label all orbitals and show the appropriate number of electrons in the molecular orbitals. Give both labeling conventions (e.g. sigma2s and 1sigmag) for each of the molecular orbitals. You do not have to sketch the actual orbitals. (b) Give the bond order. (c) Indicate the effect...
Briefly explain why we do not observe elements with atomic numbers number of protons ) in the 200s or 300s (the official record for highest atomic number ever observed is 118 ). In other words, why does there appear to be a limit to the size of the nucleus ?
Energy Dispersive X-ray Spectroscopy: Explain why elements of low atomic number are difficult to be detected
Using the terms bonding, energy and stability, explain occurring compounds, but only 90 naturally occurring elements. why there are millions of naturally Who Gives a Darn? I Do! In completing this activity, you have explored why hydrogen atoms combine to form diatomic hydrogen, and why helium atoms do not combine to form diatomic helium. In the Star Trek universe, star ships are propelled with dilithium crystals. Dilithium is possible to prepare, however, it is only known to exist in the...
