Answer #1

ANS- The difference between compensatory model, multiple cutoff model and the multiple hurdle model is that compensatory model is that model which uses a set of attributes and assigns weight to each of the attribute and that attribute is taken which has the highest score. Under this model if one attribute is weak and other one strong then the strong attribute compensate the other attribute and thus increases the overall performance of that particular thing. For e.g a person can do work at night but charges more wages then as the person can do work at night so his night duty compensate the wages. In other words the hiring person would consider him as he can do the night duty when no other person were willing to do the night shift. The night duty will be the strong attribute and high wages is the weak attribute here. Multiple cutoff model is that type of model where a minimum cutoff score is decided in each of the selection tests and the persons who crosses each of the minimum cut off score is selected for the position. The multiple hurdle model requires individuals to pass on every test before they move on the next level.

For the above positions multiple cutoff model will be best as there are 200 external and 50 internal resumes for the position of plant manager and 25 external and 20 internal resumes for operations specialist position. The number of resumes is quite high so if there is minimum cut off score then many will be disqualified in the subsequent round of test and the best candidates can be hired.
