Answer:

The source of glycerol in the cell during times of fasting or starvation is the breakdown of glycerol feed into gluconeogenesis.

During the time of fasting or starvation glycerol is formed in the adipose tissue by lipolysis. Hydrolysis of triacylglycerol is one of the main sources of glycerol.

The main enzyme necessary for it is pathway is the (GTP) (PEPCK) or phosphoenolpyruvate.

Hormones responsible for the production of glycerol are glucagon, epinephrine, and norepinephrine.

In the fasting or starving glucose level becomes down and in order to ensure and maintain the supply of energy, it is necessary to convert other biological molecules like protein and lipid.
