Describe the process of bone formation and bone remodeling and repair. Explain what would be the result if there were an imbalance between bone resorption and bone formation.
The process of formation of bone tissue is called as the intramembranous ossifications. There are two types of ossifications.
Intermembranous ossification is the main process during fetal development. The cartilage is not formed during this process. Endochondral ossification is one of the main process during formation of bone, were the mammalian skeletal system is formed.
osteoblasts are a type of bone cells that are responsible for
bone formation. Bone remodelling is a type of bone cells
that are responsible for mineralization of bone structures. The
mature cells from the bone is removed and new bone cells are
introduced by the process of bone remodelling. The osteoclasts are
a type of bone cells which removes the bone tissues by
removing the mineral matrix of the bone and also they are having
dissolving power to dissolve the collagen part of the bone. These
are the events that took part during bine remodelling and
repair.
If there is any imbalance between the bone resorption
and bone formation occur , that is if there is increased life span
and number of the osteoclasts and if there is decrease in the
formation and lifespan of osteoblasts will results in imbalance
between the bone resorption and bine formation. This results in the
deterioration of bone architecture and bone loss.
