Answer #1

A company which has recently been in the news due to ethical failure is Uber . The Sillicon Valley Giant has been in the news for all the wrong reasons in recent times . The rise of Uber had been phenomenal in the last decade . Helped by disruptive technology and explosive growth Uber turned out to be the blue-eyed boy of Sillicon Valley . However Uber has been hit with its share of controversies which can be labelled as an ethical failure . 2017 and 2018 were rough years for Uber . There were allegations of a hostile and sexist work culture and sexual harrasment following the ouster of a female employee . this was followed by more senior level resignations and backlashes due to the allegations of the female employee going viral on social media .

Even the CEO was not spared as he was alleged to bear equal responsibility for the sexist culture prevailing  in the company .If this was not enough Uber was pulled up for unethically using Greyball software to illegally operate in countries where they did not have regulatory permissions.

The major problems is that the company is hyper-competitive and would compromise on ethics to outsmart rivals and gain market share.  This unethical behavior also spilled on to employee handling creating alleged hostile and sexist work environment in the company . This culture probably evolved over time as the company chased market share in a difficult and hyper-competitive market it disregarded ethics and long term repercussions .
