The activation of CD8+ T cells with Antigen presenting cells are known as cross-priming. It's importants is in viral infections. If there is a viral infection the CD8+T cells get activated.

The lack of ability to recognize or fight pathogens is known as cross tolerance related to infection. That is even though there is infection patients cannot get diagnosed because their body is not able to produce immune response or inflammation.
