What is the difference between education and indoctrination? Is there an ethical dimension to this issue? Do you believe these teachers are trying to engage students by using real-world experiences or are they trying to influence them in a particular direction? Some critics would argue that our education system is more focused on teaching students what to think rather than how to think?

Answer #1

Education is one of the most important weapons one could possess. This would mean education would not only teach one how to make a living but also how to live. Besides, real education should help the children think for solutions and issues rather than giving them one solution without allowing them to think. As a Chinese proverb says, don’t give fish to people instead, teach them fishing which would help them have fish for lifetime, education should help children develop their intellectual capability by not giving predetermined texts and exams but by helping them use their own imagination and reasoning to find many solutions for a same problem. This would not only help children develop confidence, individuality and problem solving but also would lead them out of their troubles of memorizing. Children should be allowed to improve their imagination, creativity and skills without worrying about exams and marks.
