how crisis might impact patients and families seeking health care. In addition, I would like you to provide examples of how you might interact and communicate more effectively with patients and families experiencing crisis.
Crisis occurs at various levels and the intensity and the context may differ from person to person. There are financial crisis, relationship crisis, political crisis, family crisis, environmental crisis etc. Most of the individuals however would be affected by either financial or relationship crisis. This would further their physical or mental illness they are affected by. It would be difficult to be in a crisis and it would be very difficult to be in a crisis with an illness. When there is no financial or people support, one wouldn’t seek health care because one wouldn’t find any meaning for one’s survival and recovery.
As a counselor, I would tell the client that crisis is part of human life but accepting it and working towards viable solutions would help one overcome one’s difficulties. It would be wise to reconcile with those who are near to them yet have some issues because human support is very much essential for a speedy recovery. If it’s a financial crisis, one should look for people and institutions for financial support. I would also give them the details of places and people from whom they could get financial help. Families just need to sit and talk because it’s forgiveness and accepting others as they are that would help families move from a static point. This means the family members need to spend more time together to settle things right.
