Cyp19a1a and Cyp11b genes are responsible for the gender determination in case of Zebrafishes. Cyp19a1a is expressed around the oocytes, but after the action of anti mullerian hormone Cyp19a1a is suppressed and Cyp11b starts expressing leading to conversion of juvenile ovary into testis.
Hence if we want positive outcome of PCR for the same ,then we will use tissue sample from gonad of zebrafish,as chances of getting both genes expressed are more in gonads rather than ovary or testis Individually!
