Answer #1

There is a systems approach in public relations activity. It deals with four elements of Systems theory :

  • Input : Incoming information comes from the problem within the organization.
  • Throughput : The information is processed.
  • Output : Response which comes from the organization to maintain the original state of equillibrium.
  • Feedback : Response which from the environment and indicates that the problem has been resolved.

Thus Systems approach explains that public relations is a strategic activity as it takes the inputs from the environment, process it, the response is sent from the organization and gives an indication that the problem is resolved.

Strengths

Systems approach is a systematic approach.

It gives a well defined process with inputs and final output.

The output is clearly defined.

Weakness

It is time consuming.

The approach doesnt give any information whether the result is upto the mark or not.

The approach doesnt give any remedial measures to improve the output.
