A leader that failed at fostering teamwork
In the company that I worked for before moving to my new job, my team leader failed at fostering team work. I worked in the IT department that required efficient team work to keep the technology and communication of the company efficient. Instead of encouraging the people in the department to work together, our team leader encouraged discrimination. He made some people feel more important than others thus encouraging discrimination among us. With time, different forms of discrimination based on gender, race, color and age were evident in the department. Besides he encouraged individualism and competitiveness among our selves resulting in most people choosing to work on their own. He made most people to have the view that working together was delaying their success thus resulting in low team spirit in the group. Our department failed terribly which affected the whole company in general.
