What do you think would happen if someone added a D-glucose off the D-galactose on the Oligosaccharides of a person with the type O backbone? Would that person be able to accept type A, B, or O blood? Who would this person be able to donate blood to? Explain your choice.

The O antigen contains the H structure , while A and B antigens contain modified H structure. If the O antigen backbone is modified by replacing galactose with glucose, then the person would not be able to accept blood from A, B or O blood type individuals. This person would not be able to donate his/her blood to any blood type individual as the structure of his/her O antigen is changed which will be recognized by the recepient as foreign and immune response will be mounted.
