Answer. Secondary metabolites are organic substances that are being produced by various microorganisms in varying external or internal conditions. Few examples of secondary metabolites produced by fungi are - penicillin, aflatoxin, cyclosporine and so on. Some of the environmental factors that would influence the production of secondary metabolites in fungi are:-

- Temperature

- Humidity

- Light intensity

- Pathogen attack

Similarly few of the nutritional factors that influence the production of secondary metabolites in fungi are:-

- Supply of water

- Minerals

- Carbon source

- Nitrogen source
