Domestic violence involves violence against spouse, parents, children, or elderly.

Nurses responsibility

*) Ask the patient if anything wrong as you have noticed any signs.

*) Talk to the patient about your concern s.

*) Be an active listner.

*) Maintain a positive tgerapeutic relationship with patient.

*) Support and provide confidence to the patient.

*) Inform the authority in a way that does not questions the confidentiality of the patient.

Signs and symptoms

Signs of physical abuse includes cuts or wounds, bruises or edema anywhere in the body, weak appearance without sleep, food, or medical care.

Signs of sexual abuse include bruises or wounds in the vaginal area, forcing to have sex, trying to spread STD, torn dresses, ungenune reasons for wound or injury.

Psychological symptoms include low self esteem, no financial security, skipping out on work, school or society.
