Answer #1

HIT -Health Information Technology defined as" electronic storage and retrieval systems that support financial, clinical and operational needs" of a health care facility.

Being in the nursing field it gives us a platform to help the patients, but if we are interested to extend our care to a whole facility,we should be able to assist with the HIT i.e. Health Information data and Technology to increase nurse's quality of care.HIT is focused on the administration concerns, such as those surrounding data security and technology compliance standards.

HIT is increasingly adopted by nursing homes to improve safety, quality of care and staff productivity.Key features of HIT in nursing homes have traditionally included the electronic health or medical record ( EHR),a computerized order entry of prescription medications and other orders, and decision support tools.

we can observe that HIT may foster teamwork and communication .

If you are interested to pursue a career in a critically vital field, this type of role can help with efforts focused on patient care. This includes provider efficiency, clinical integration, primary care provider efficiency, mandated quality metrics improvement, and care coordination.

As a nurse you can help deliver better results by performing tasks such as;policy writing, training and supporting system users, designing systems, quality control, project management, choosing and implementing systems.

Being able to communicate information and understand data can also help to improve a healthcare organization's patient outcomes and allow them to make better decisions. It is possible easily through HIT.

If you have more experience in Healthcare Information Technology, the Certified Professional in Healthcare Information and Management Systems(CPHIMS) certification demonstrates your advanced knowledge and skills.

Those who are educated in both nursing and informatics are well suited to hold several nursing positions like:

Nurse vendor representatives-focused on sales and work to so showcase systems to customers.

Nurse communicators-to identify computer system needs and help train users.

Nurse managers-manages information used by the nurses.

Nurse programmers-create the programs that support the technology used by nurses.

With the above mentioned points HIT investment makes the job easier, efficient and eliminates duplicative costs.
