Conflict Management
Conflict can be defined as the clash or disagreement, often violent, between two opposing groups or individuals. Conflict is an incompatibility , as of two things that can't be simultaneously fulfilled.
Conflict Management can be defined as the ability to manage the conflicts, especially in an organisation. It is the application of a set of techniques and skills to manage conflicts more wisely and efficiently. Conflicts happen every where, especially in an organisation. For example, a disagreement between manager and an employee.
Skills and techniques of Conflict Management
*Effective communication skills : Communication skills such as active listening, motivating positive behaviours, Mediating and empathy feelings may help the managers to manage the conflicts between the employees.
* Either accommodate or avoid: Managers should try to resolve the conflicts or they have to neglect the issue.
* Assertiveness and mutual respect: Assertive behaviour, communication , and mutual respect between employees and also with managers or leaders may avoid conflicts at a greater extent.
* Patience and Impartiality: Managers should have the qualities of Impartiality and patience. managers and employees should have an attitude or ability to " Let it go".This may avoid many problems in the college.
* Problem solving and collaborating : Manager should have the capacity of problem solving . He has to collaborate with other people or departments to solve the conflicts more effectively.
* Brain storming sessions are an effective solution for conflicts.
