Answer #1

Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM) and integrative medicine is a group of diverse medical and health care systems ,practices and products that are not generally considered a part of standard medical care.It is considered as a conventional medicine and is a part of traditional therapy. Here in CAM practices it may some times overlap with the conventional therapy

Integrative medicine is a total approach to medical care that combines standard medicine with the CAM practices that has shown as safe and effective. The integrative approaches are used to treat the patient's mind, body and spirit.

For example Massage is a practice that can be applied in traditional and traditional medicine field.

Most of the people now a days in U.S as a trending style and to avoid the complications faced by the Allopathic medicine depend upon some form of CAM to maintain the health and well being.

We can see the types of CAM practices and integrative approaches:

*Traditional alternative medicine:it may include Acupuncture,Ayurveda,Homeopathy,Naturopathy and Chinese or oriental medicine

*Touch :Different forms of touch is used as a traditional practice of care in curing and healing of disease. It may include Chiropractic and osteopathic medicine,Massage,Body movement therapies,Tai chi,Yoga

*Diet and Herbs:It may includes dietary supplements,Herbal medicine,Nutrition or diet consisting of meats, fruits, vegetables and grains

*External energy :It includes Electromagnetic therapy,Reiki and Qigong

*Mind :It may includes meditation,Bio-feed back,Hypnosis

*Senses :It may includes art, dance, music and visualization and guided imagery

Now a days the conventional treatments or the standard medical treatment or Allopathy are used along with the CAM.

But when comparing with the allopathy the safety and the effectiveness regarding the CAM approaches is not known.Because there is no evidence or the best research based on the nutritional products such as dietary supplements, herbal supplements, natural products etc.But according to all specialist views it is safe because that these products are present or getting or produced by nature. It is not having any evidence base like Allopathy..

For example some time from the nutritional and herbal products may be harmful some times it may be taken mistakenly in large doses eg:vitamins

These supplements or the integrated medicine does not have any approval from the federal government due to lack of supportive evidence and regulatory issues.

The National Center for Complementary and Integrative health are currently Sponsoring and co-sponsoring various clinical trials that test CAM medicines and therapies effectiveness and harmful effects of dosage in peoples.

Some studies shows that complementary and alternative therapies have some effects when comparing with conventional treatments
