Answer #1

ANSWER - E

THE CELL WOULD BURST

The gram positive bacteria have a cell wall made up of peptidoglycan which is freely permeable, that is allowing any substance or fluid to pass through it.

Plasma membrane is semi permeable but allows water to freely pass through it and therefore when bacteria is added in distalled water, the cell has an osmotic imbalance seen in which pressure is exerted on the membrane causing it to burst.

There is osmotic lysis seen in the cell causing it to burst because there is loss of cell integrity seen.
