Health policy and management challenges

The key issues affecting the development , deployment and adoption of a local public health policy are:-

- Applying the growing body of knowledge about the multiple determinants of health of population to federal and state policies and programs.

- Continuing to support science and technology .

- Developing the potential of National Health Information Infrastructure , to dessiminate information and improve the quality and safety of health care .

- Responding to the changing nature of health issues in U.S. like increase risk behaviours example - substance abuse , violence etc .

- Dealing with problems in the personal health care system including rising cost , medical error etc.

- Coordinating with fragmented fedrel health programs which are scattered among 40 departments and agencies.

- Addressing state and local problems created by the proliferation of federal policies and programs .

- Responding to pressing international health issues that have domestic implications as food , people ,product , disease etc

- Not able to provide primary care services to those population who are presently underserved.

- Comprehensive systems was not able to developed to include all services

- Lack of physician and nurse practitioner to be trained and used

- Need of Quality improvement

- Increasing cost of healthcare services

-Lack of emphasis on disease prevention.
