Vitamin D

Lack of vitamin D is called as hypovitaminosis D.It is caused when you don't get enough Vit D for your body.

Vitamin D can be obtained naturally from sunlight,food or extra supplements.Amount of vit D intake varies for different age groups.For adults 10-20micrograms is needed,but some study says intake should be more if you are not exposed to sunlight.

Reason for lack of vit D can be many like,you are not exposed to sunlight,vit D is less in your daily food or your kidney/liver is not converting vit D to your body needs.

Vitamin D deficiency causes low bone density.This can cause osteoporosis and fractures.Severe deficiency can cause osteomalacia.Osteomalacia is a condition where your bones gets softened and can cause bowing of bones and even cause fractures.

Vitamin D is an important factor for immune system.If it's deficient you get chance to be sick very often.Vit D deficiency can be considered as a reason for getting tired and fatique.Depression is one of the side effect of lack of vit D.Researchers say supplementing it improves the mood.After a surgery or cuts or wounds it will take lot of time to heal if there is lack in vit D.Female pattern hair loss can be one effect of the lack.Normal muscle pain reason can be many,but one reason can be vit D deficiency.Vit D is present in nerve cells which sense pain so when this vitamin is lacking there will be pain.
