Pathophysiology of parkinson's disease;
The specific cause of parkinson is unknown. so it is considered to be an Idopathic. Anyway researcher have found that certain factor may cause parkinsons disease such genetic and exposure to toxic environment with heavy metals and damage or trauma to the brain.
The cause will affect the basal ganglia of the brain which is responsible for motor function in the brain. basal ganglia is found beneth the cerebral cortex. In basal ganglia substantia niagra is the important part which produce dopamine nueron by forming nigrostrail pathway.
when these dopamine get reduced it lead to the disappearance of this pathway. This pathway is very essential for motor function because through which signal is transefered from substantia niagra to straita and then to cerebral cortex and cause body movements.
when these substatntia niagra gets affected dopamine release will be decreased leads to slow motor function.
lets understand the signal flow in the basal ganglia;
there are two type of flow from the substantia niagra one is
from the pars reticulata and other from pars compacta of the
substantia niagra..in parkinson disease pars compacta will get
affected which leads to low dopamine release cause poor signal to
the cerebral cortex via striatum because nigrostriatal pathway get
disappeared it leads to parkinsonism. which is explained in
flowchart diagram.
