The nursing profession is the backbone of health care systems and plays a vital role in providing health care services globally. For nurses to achieve universal health coverage in their profession, they need continuous and sustainable strength. The nursing profession has known to be the oldest of the art and youngest of the profession. Besides all these positive notes, the nursing profession is facing many issues with time and on a worldwide level. Many such problems include an ever-increasing population, an increasing number of older and frail patients, high speeding health costs and advancement in technology in health care systems. Such issues are accompanied by the underlying shortages of nurses staff, the nurse educators and an aging nursing workforce. For example, countries like India, Kenya, Africa etc are facing the problems like scarcity of faculty, increased demand for specialized care, inadequate skill development and knowledge and a lack of collaboration between nursing services and education departments. There is a big requirement to bring changes in this situation.
To resolve such issues, there is a need to create and maintain a community environment everywhere in the workplaces. The staff should be taught with humanistic and cooperative approaches. There should be continuous teaching and monitoring of the nurses from the experts through a wide variety of methods providing them the latest knowledge and equipment to deal with.
Such resolutions are being made in many areas in many countries like the United Kingdom. Here in UK, they play an important and leading role in strengthening the nursing profession globally by particularly making changes in developing countries through working in collaborations or in allies with the Commonwealth, Europe and other international organizations like the World Health Organization(WHO) and the World Bank. These organizations have a major role in developing the nursing profession, in nursing education and research. Such transitions will help in the development of skilled nursing force, with the potential to be professionally equipped and much-educated nurses and nursing leaders. These developing and strengthening nurses across the world will improve health and economic growth.
