After the WW2 many factories and human casualties will decrease the production possibility of Germany and shift the PPF to the left, a shift to the left will represents a decreases in the production possibility of the nation.

At the time of recession many firms in the market shutdown production and that decreases the output in the market there are also many people who leave their jobs and are considered out of the labor force, this will also shift the PPF of the nation to the left and they will be producing at a much lower level in the economy.
