Pathophysiology of dementia.

      * Neurological diseases and cerebrovascular changes like Parkinsonism,

        Alzheimer's disease,blood brain barrier dysfunction,cerebral microinfarcts,

        amyloid deposition etc negatively affect the normal functioning central nerve

        system and it's neurons..

      * It results in neurodegeneration thereby loss of adequate neurons in the brain.

      * Loss of normal functioning neurons in the brain results in cognitive impairment

        and leads to symptoms of dementia like memory loss,impaired judgement etc.
