HYPERTENSION :

• Hypertension is a condition of high blood pressure. It is defined as having a blood pressure of more than 140/ 90mm Hg over a number of weeks.
• Blood pressure is the force that a person's blood exerts against the walls of their blood vessels. This pressure depends on the resistance of blood vessels and how hard the heart has to work.
• Blood pressure in arteries is persistently elevated.

SYMPTOMS :

• Mostly no symptoms will be noticed initially other than elevated blood pressure.Without detection it can damage heart, blood vessels, and other organs, such as kidneys.
• High blood pressure causes sweating, anxiety, sleeping problems,headaches particularly at back of head.
• Light headedness, vertigo, buzzing sound in ear, altered vision ,fainting episodes.
• Shortness of breath, chest pain

TREATMENTS :  

• Lifestyle changes
• Reduce dietary sodium.
• Medication like beta blockers, diuretics, ACE inhibitors, calcium channel blockers.
• Healthy diet like fruits ,vegetables, whole grains, lean protein.Avoid junk foods,reduce processed food and oily fried foods.
• Increasing physical activity and attaining healthy weight.
• Managing stress by meditation, yoga, massage,etc.
• Avoid smoking ,alchohol use.
