Hall opposed the coeducation at secondary as well as the college levels because he believed that the sexual sublimation is enhanced by the sex-segregated schools, which facilitates the social progress. Sex-segregated schools hold the sexes apart. He believed that any kind of the sexual act is not designed for the offspring production. He proposed the idea of the inhibition of the sex drive in the adolescence period.
