James Mark Baldwin was the sixth president of the American Psychiatric Association. He was the co-founder of the psychological review along with the Cattell. Baldwin was the first editor of the psychological bulletin, the other flagship journal of the American Psychiatric Association. Baldwin was born in the South Carolina. He earned his doctorate from the Princeton. Before his doctorate he spent a year with the Wundt.

Later he went to the Canada; there he established his first laboratory of psychology in the University of the Toronto. In the year 1903, he went to the John Hopkins. He is considered as the founder of the child psychology and the social psychology as well because of his great contributions to the field of the psychology.

Jean Piaget’s work in the child psychology was founded on the Baldwin’s child cognitive developmental views. Baldwin also worked as the evolutionary theorist as he founded the connection between the functional psychology and the evolution.
