A short post is made by welding steel plates into a square, as shown in Figure, and then filling the area inside with concrete. Compute the stress in the steel and in the concrete if b = 150 mm, t = 10 mm, and the post carries an axial load of 900 kN. See Section  for concrete properties. Use f'c = 6000 psi.
