Patient's rights-
In treatment patient has the right regarding choice of treatment .
Autonomy- autonomy means self respect ,self choice .. patient has right of self choice
Nonmalficence - nobody could harm the patient.
Beneficence- health care provider are bound to give benefit to patient.
These are the common rights for all patients. Other rights are
Right of information - patient has right to know his full treatment procedure, medication history , and also the full professional status of careproviders .
Right to record and report- Patient has full right to know his investigation procedure . Patient can see and keep the original copies of investigation papers. Patient has right to report if he faces any problem during treatment .
Right of self dignity and privacy - patient has full right to have self dignity and privacy . Care providers must provide privacy to patients particularly female patients
Right to give informed consent - patient should know about full procedure of any medical intervention or surgical intervention . Here patient has right to give consent before any such intervention.
Right to have emergency medical Care - every patient has right to have emergency medical care .
Right to have second opinion- patient has right to have second opinion from another person .
Right to have confidentiality - Patient has right to have confidentiality of his treatment and history .
Right to have transparency - patient has right to have transparency in his treatment procedure
Right to refuse - patient can refuse his treatment procedure, can switch to other treatment or can refuse prescribed medicine .
In the above mentioned rights of patient,it is clear that patient has autonomy in choice of his treatment. There should be transparency and patient have right to know about his whole treatment procedure , if he wish he could stick to procedure or switch to other treatment.
Patient have right to give consent in any medical or surgical intervention. Care providers must inform the whole intervention procedure to patient, then patient will decide whether he will give consent or not .
If patient doesn't like the treatment procedure he can refuse the treatment and can also refuse to take prescribed drug .
