While taking care and also educating the patient it is very important to know regarding cultural background of the patient.. the questions will be as follows.

1. Country of origin and what is specific cultural and ethnic group?

2. What is the mother tongue and also any other preferable language?

3. What is the family time and who are all the members involved?

4. Who is the main decision maker at home?

5. What are the values and beliefs they follow?

6. How many and what kind of meals do they normally eat at home?

7. What are all the religious food restrictions?

8.what are all the spirituatal beliefs?

9. What type of treatment do they follow in their culture?

These are some of the questions that can be asked.

2. This will impact discharge practices because , it is very much important to know the practices they do culturally and religious in order to render them discharge advice suitable for them. For example I the patient is under high protein requirement and they are suppose to have more protein sources, then we can't tell them to take non vegetarian protein sources, instead we have to suggest them plant based protein sources to meet their requirements in their preferable way.

3.patients culture do affect the care which we provide. For example there are certain cultures in certain religion such as muslims, they don't allow female staff to treat male patient and male staff to treat female patient. Wheres as culture in christianity prefer not to take medications.. these are two example of cultural barriers which will interrupt in patient care.
