For example, if you are trying to convince the community to build a waterpark and prior to your speech, you knew that the community was most concerned about safety issues, then you would devote thè content of your speech to addressing those concerns. The persuasiveness of the speech is thereby focused on the most significant obstacle to the establishment of a waterpark. In addition, its important to understand your audience before delivering a speech because you can adapt your speech to their level of understanding. For example, if you are delivering a speech to elementary school students, then you would adjust your vocabulary to their level of understanding, so they are able to grasp the message you are trying to get across. When you are giving a speech, your goal is to have the audience understand and respond favorably to what you are saying. Understanding things like the general age, level of education, and culture of your audience, are very essential aspects to the development of your speech. When the speaker understands who their targeted audience is, they can effectively deliver their message and adapt their message to the background of their listeners. This is extremely beneficial because it will prevent the speaker from discussing controversial topics, which is risky. However, the speaker does not have to avoid controversial topics altogether, but they should be mindful of what they discuss. In addition, this allows the speaker to deliver their message in a way that they know their audience will understand it and in a way the speaker will know that they are interested in. The delivery of an informative message and the engagement of your audience helps to make the speech successful. This will be beneficial to the audience because the speech would apply to their lives and interests, without them feeling attacked. Audience analysis allows the speaker to recognize information that would be vital in building shared interests and opinions between them and the members of their audience
