High blood pressure

it is the condition in which blood pressure of the patient is more than normal range of 120/80 mm hg. Blood pressure is considered high when it is equal to or more than 140/90 mm hg

sign and symptoms

  • usually have no symptoms but if left untreated causes heart disease and stroke

lifestyle changes:

  • patient should do physical activity regularly
  • patient should avoid alcohol and smoking
  • patient should take salt restricted diet and fatty fried food.
  • Regular monitoring of blood pressure should be done
  • patient should manage stress by practising yoga and meditation.

medications:

  • beta blockers like atenolol etc
  • angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitor like captopril, quinapril etc
  • diuretics to promote urine excretion like lasix erc
  • vasodilator to dilate blood vasculature like nitropruside etc
