Answer #1

Nurses can promote EBP by :-

1) incorporate evidence-based practice terminology into the mission, vision, strategic plan, and performance appraisals of staff

2) integrate the work of evidence-based practice into the governance structure of nursing departments and the health care system

3) demonstrate the value of evidence-based practice through administrative behaviors of the chief nurse executive

4) establish explicit expectations about evidence-based practice for nursing leaders who create a culture that values clinical inquiry.

#. Systematic review - summaries research on a specific question using explicit methods to search ,appraise and synthesize the literature , potential for bias is reduced .

#. Characteristics of systemic review that differentiate it from traditional literature review are :-

- it is not easy to do

- long duration

- expensive

- has scientific method

- no bias

- not only looks at published research

Systematic review considered the strongest type of evidence for practice because of the following :-

1.) Focused question

2.) Summary of findings from specific studies that meet specific criteria

3.) Rigorous search and selection methods established apriori

4.) Extensive analysis of the quality of individual studies included in the review

#. Advantages of Systematic Reviews

•Reduce bias

•Replicability

•Resolve controversy between conflicting studies bc there can be conflcting reviews due to diff methologies or diff evidence at the time review was done

•Identify gaps in current research

•Provide reliable basis for decision making

#. Limitations of Systematic Reviews

•Results may still be inconclusive

•There may be no trials/evidence

•The trials may be of poor quality, review can state thier is only porr quality evidence

•Practice does not change just because you have the evidence of effect/effectiveness
