Answer #1

Non-ionizing radiation:

  • Non ionizing radiation does not carry enough energy to break molecular bonds and ionize atoms.
  • Examples of non-ionization radiation are Extremely Low Frequency and Radio Frequency Radiation.
  • Non ionization radiation has longer wavelength and lower frequency and also lower energy.
  • Non ionizing radiation is potentially less harmful.

Ionizing Radiation:

  • Ionizing radiation is the type of radiation that carries energy to break bonds between molecules and ionize atoms.
  • Examples of ionizing radiation are the gamma rays emitted by radio active materials, cosmic rays and X-rays.
  • Ionizing radiation has shorter wavelength, higher frequency and also higher energy.
  • Ionizing radiation can be harmful.
