Provision 6 states that "The nurse, through individual and collective effort, establishes, maintains, and improves the ethical environment of the work setting and conditions of employment that are conducive to safe, quality health care" (ANA, 2019). In order to meet this provision, I plan to always keep our foundational ethical principles in mind. To remain honest and faithful to the patient. To encourage and facilitate autonomy. Always keeping the patient's safety in mind while also reminding my colleagues to do the same. Provision 5 states "The nurse owes the same duties to self as to others, including the responsibility to promote health and safety, preserve wholeness of character and integrity, maintain competence, and continue personal and profession growth" (ANA, 2019). This provision has already been a challenge throughout nursing school and may continue to be a challenge in my career. As easy as it is to give advice about being healthy and eating right, I find myself not taking my own advice on occasion. I keep in mind that with everything going on and how busy we are as students, having a stable sleep schedule, exercise routine, and diet won't be the easiest thing at this moment in time. I think that once school is done and things lighten up, I will be able to have a more structured schedule.
