  • social media proves to be an early warning system for helping disaster-affected people.
  • social media provides an additional way to track the course of a disaster.

disadvantages -

  • many segments of the public do not use social media and therefore, another mode of communication is needed as well.
  • social media information can be inaccurate about disaster response.
  • social media can also give much more negative opinions about the disaster response which can be highly demotivated.
